NBA All-Stars Julius Randle, Karl-Anthony Towns and Sneaker Artist Mache Team Up With Mobil 1 For Sneaker Giveaway

SPRING, Texas – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – For the last phase of Mobil 1 Behind the reader campaign, a series of unique NBA content and sweepstakes to reward fans with unique gifts and experiences, prominent sneaker artist Dan “Mache” Gamache created custom hand-painted sneakers inspired by the Mobil brand 1 ™. These extremely rare kicks are now available as a Behind the Drive prize.

In an exclusive video, NBA All-Stars and Mobil 1 partners Julius Randle and Karl-Anthony Towns unbox the custom sneakers, with Mache describing the manufacturing process and behind the scenes explaining his design motivation. The full video is visible here.

“We took a really inspired approach to these custom shoes, channeling the Mobil 1 brand and its history,” said Mache. “There are many ties to Mobil 1 – from the Pegasus to the silver paint scheme tied to the iconic Mobil 1 bottles, to the checkered flag motif relating to the brand’s racing heritage. We’ve even mixed a single drop of Mobil 1 motor oil into the paint for each shoe, so anytime someone wears them they’ll be powered by Mobil 1. With only four pairs in existence, there’s honestly nothing there. like.

Earlier this offseason, Randle, Towns and the Mobil 1 brand announced a partnership for Behind the Drive sweeps, featuring a series of content, revolving weekly prizes, and a bundle of grand prizes. Through this effort, fans have had exclusive access to these stars as athletes reveal what fuels everything from their on-court philosophy to their coveted sneaker collections. Behind the Drive is the latest collaboration between the Mobil 1 brand and the NBA, a partnership that has provided unique experiences and engagement opportunities for basketball fans since 2016.
