Southwest Airlines opened its reservation calendar during the busy spring break season early Thursday and its website was apparently not ready.
Travelers trying to book tickets to travel through April 2022 – the airline is opening its schedule in shorter increments than most major airlines – were greeted with error messages on the website and app airline mobile.
Southwest representatives on Twitter thanked travelers for their patience and said the issue was being addressed.
An error message: “We are unable to process your request. Please try again. If you continue to have difficulty, please contact a Southwest Airlines Customer Representative at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435 -9792). ”
“We are working with our technology team to get our website back up and running,” the airline said on Twitter at 10 a.m. EST.

Southwest’s website is often overwhelmed during busy booking times, especially when the airline has large fare sales.
Incoming CEO Bob Jordan, who started out in Southwest’s technology department, said last week that technology upgrades would be a priority for the airline.
